From Our Communities to Your Table, A Local Edmonton Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time for good food, good company and appreciating the people and places around us.
This year, bring a little more Alberta to your celebration. From Edgemont in West Edmonton to The Orchards in Southeast Edmonton, and Chappelle Gardens, Desrochers Grove and Paisley in the southwest, there are markets, farms and Edmonton favourites worth exploring over the long weekend.
Here are a few ways to shop, gather and celebrate close to home.
Shop the Thanksgiving Feast
Fresh produce, Alberta-raised meats, preserves, baking and other locally made favourites are easy to find at Edmonton's farmers' markets.
For residents in south and southwest Edmonton, Bountiful Farmers' Market brings more than 120 vendors together under one roof, offering everything from fresh produce and meats to bread, desserts, sauces and preserves.
Thanksgiving Weekend Hours:
Friday, October 9: 10 AM–4 PM
Saturday, October 10: 9 AM–4 PM
Sunday, October 11: 10 AM–2 PM
In the west, Callingwood Farmers' Market is a convenient option for Edgemont residents—and Thanksgiving weekend marks its final Sunday market of the 2026 season. Stop by on October 11 from 10 AM–3 PM to shop from local farmers, bakers, food producers and makers.
Pick Your Own Apples & Honey
Turn Thanksgiving prep into a fall outing with a visit to Konrad's Organic U-Pick Orchard, located just southeast of Beaumont.
The family-run orchard offers several varieties of organically grown apples ready to pick straight from the tree. Bring your harvest home for an apple crisp, pie or simply a fresh addition to the weekend.
While you're there, pick up some of the orchard's own honey, produced by bees that forage on wildflowers around the property.
Hours: Tuesday–Sunday, 12–4 PM. U-pick is seasonal, so be sure to confirm availability before visiting.
Pick Your Thanksgiving Centrepiece
For another fall adventure, head west to the Edmonton Corn Maze, where the sunflower field and pumpkins make it easy to bring a little fall colour home.
Cut a few sunflower stems, choose a pumpkin and pair them with greenery, gourds or leaves for a simple Thanksgiving centrepiece. Stay for the corn maze, farm animals and other fall activities to make an afternoon of it.
The Edmonton Corn Maze is also open Thanksgiving Monday from 10 AM–6 PM.
Save Room for Pie
If baking isn't on your Thanksgiving to-do list, let an Edmonton favourite handle dessert.
Fifendekel is known for its homemade-style pies and baked goods, making it an easy stop for a classic Thanksgiving dessert.
Pick up a pumpkin pie, or your family's favourite, and check one more thing off the hosting list. Thanksgiving is a busy time for bakeries, so ordering ahead is always a good idea.
Make Time to Get Outside
After dinner, bundle up and enjoy one of the best times of year to explore your neighbourhood.
Take in the natural surroundings of Wedgewood Creek Ravine near Edgemont, explore the pathways and green spaces around Heritage Valley, let your four-legged family member burn off some energy at the Paisley Dog Park, or enjoy the parks, trails and Residents Association amenities in The Orchards and Chappelle Gardens.
A family walk, a trip to the playground or simply a little fresh air is an easy way to slow down and enjoy the long weekend together.
Bring It Home
From apples picked at an Alberta orchard and ingredients from a local market to fresh sunflowers, pumpkins and a pie from an Edmonton favourite, there are plenty of ways to bring a little local flavour to your Thanksgiving.
Across The Orchards, Chappelle Gardens, Edgemont, Paisley and Desrochers Grove, we're grateful for the residents and neighbours who make these communities special.
